2012 _ Skies over Snaefell – de Appel arts centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
These are the skies over the mountain // volcano // glacier Snaefell in Iceland where Jules Verne starts his journey to the center of the earth, where NASA’s astronauts train before going to the moon in 1969, or, if we didn’t go, where Stanley Kubrick filmed the fake moon landing. All the existing images on the internet of Snaefell are indexed and software separates the skies from the mountain. This continuous process shows us the internet based reality of the skies over Snaefell.
