Allard van Hoorn, born February 29th, 1968 in Leiden, the Netherlands, is a sound-, installation- and performance artist creating choreographies for architecture, urban structures as musical scores, scenographies for the built environment and scripts for investigating our relationships to (public) spaces and nature.

‘My main body of work consists of Urban Songlines, a utopian/dystopian series of collaborative translations of buildings, urban structures and public spaces into music through site-specific sound-generation. These performances are a way of connecting to places by listening to them as well as a research into how we use and experience the public domain and to what degree we can claim ownership over it, examining notions of inclusion, becoming and belonging.’

Tate St. Ives presented 24 videos covering 18 Urban Songlines that were created during the first decade of the project May 24 – September 1, 2019 as well as the public space performance 063 Urban Songline on June 22, 2019.

He participated in the 2019 Oslo Architecture Triennial with a new Urban Songline involving Diamond Dust.

Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Coservatoire – Tbilisi, School for Creative and Performing Arts – Cincinnati, US ESEC Toulouse Barcelona, Architectural Association Visiting School Penang – Malaysia, Rijksakademie Beamclub – Amsterdam, Gasworks – London, Hogeschool Sint-Lukas – Brussels, the Museo de Arte Moderna in Salvador de Bahia, the program Pensando en Voz Alta in Puebla, Mexico organized by Fundacion/Coleccion Jumex, at Sheffield Hallam University and the university for architecture UIC / ESARQ in Barcelona.

He has created content for publications like Elephant Magazine, Domus, Volume / Archis, Urban China, Glowlab, Seismopolite and is editor of HTV De IJsberg.
