As part of the exhibition Architectural Healing organized by Cityscapes Foundation I invited Andalusian Flamenco dancer Eduardo Guerrero to explore the Koepel Prison in Haarlem, that was a recently decommissioned jail and refugee center, as a black-box of echos and resonance.

The performance functions as a ritual, a cleansing, a transformative act; harmonizing and leveling the energy of the physical space.

Part of the project Urban Songlines, a utopian/dystopian series of collaborative translations of buildings, urban structures and public spaces into music through site-specific sound-generation. These performances are a way of connecting to places by listening to them as well as a research into how we use and experience the public domain and to what degree we can claim ownership over it, discussing notions of inclusion, becoming and belonging.

This project was realized with generous support by the Mondriaan Fund
